STRUCTURE OF THE AUDITION
There are very specific guidelines about the auditions regarding time limits and the structure of the audition. For a detailed guide please visit the KCACTF national website regarding Irene Ryan Rules here: http://www.kcactf.org/performance/irene-ryan-scholarship-auditions/rules.html
In short, the structure is as follows:
Timing of the audition will begin with the first action or word in character following the setup and introduction and will not stop from that point onward. The timekeeper will stop participants when they reach the time limit at each round.
All rooms will include two chairs and a table to use as furniture for the audition.
Please go back to the Irene Ryan Landing/Home page if you need to access more information on the audition guidelines, tips, and royalty information (CLICK HERE)

Again This Year!
Region 5 will now have pianists available for students choosing to sing as part of their audition package. A nominee will still be allowed to bring a pianist with them for the audition. There will be very limited time provided for rehearsal with the pianist prior to the audition, so keep this in mind as you are selecting material for the audition. Below are some best practices to help ensure the best possible audition and collaboration with your pianist.

- Have clean copies of your music. Make sure you are not cutting off the key signature, piano line or any of the music
- Put your music in a three-hole punched binder and make sure the music is printed double sided
- Clearly mark your start and stopping place not just in the vocal line, but in the piano line as well
- If you are performing a scene or monologue prior to singing write the last line of speech before the song begins to help your pianist know when to begin
Entry is now closed for this event
RIGHTS AND ROYALTIES
Please consult www.kcactf.org, then go to “Irene Ryans,” and “Royalty and Permissions” to determine the permission required for all audition pieces. Nominees will be required to present written proof of permission for copyrighted material before the Festival begins. You must E-MAIL your permission letters to Mary Trotter by January 15, 2020 at [email protected]
Because you will submit your ENTRY FORM online before you arrive at the Festival, you simply need to check the Irene Ryan callboard (located where you will register for the festival) or online (Blog at website) to find out when and where your Preliminary Round audition will take place. The names of those nominees who have not cleared their royalty issues will be marked and will be required to settle those issues prior to performing.
