One of the many aims of KCACTF is to nurture the next generation of stage directors. To attain that goal, there are several opportunities for young directors at the Region 5 Festival to foster their growth as a director no matter their experience level. Below is a description of all directing opportunities and a recommendation based on experience level.

To attain that goal, there are several opportunities for young directors at the Region 5 Festival to foster their growth as a director no matter their experience level. Below is a description of all directing opportunities and a recommendation based on experience level.
FACULTY
Mentor a student director in the concert reading of a ten-minute play: Faculty members are needed to mentor student directors as they prepare for the ten-minute play festival.
Six ten-minute play production teams (consisting of student director, stage manager, actors and faculty mentor) will:

- Collaborate on-line in pre-production preparation prior to the Festival.
- Work together in-person at the Festival through the audition, casting, rehearsal process.
- Present their work as part of the 10-Minute Play Festival.
Faculty Directing Series in Workshops:
Consider sharing your knowledge by offering a directing workshop at the festival. Faculty and graduate students who are interested in leading a workshop should fill out a workshop proposal form. Some possible topics might be:
The challenges in directing a Shakespeare play (or Shaw, Chekhov, Beckett, etc)
Creating interesting pictures/composition on stage
How to work with and incorporate dramaturgical work into a production
A forum on rehearsal processes
Working with music directors and choreographers
