ASSISTANT DIRECTION OF A TEN-MINUTE PROTEST PLAY CONCERT READING
Students will collaborate with a faculty director on the direction of a ten-minute protest play. During the month of December, students will collaborate on-line. At the festival student directors will assist the director with auditions, two hours of rehearsal, and the concert reading and ensuing post-show discussion. The plays chosen will focus on Festival 51’s theme of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This event is intended for students who want to work collaboratively with faculty directors and are passionate about exploring the festival’s theme.

Assist a faculty director in developing and directing a concert reading of a 10-minute play focused on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

CRITERIA:

INTERESTED DIRECTORS ARE EXPECTED TO:
- Commit to attending the entirety of the KCACTF Region 5 festival.
- Participate in on-line collaborations during the month of December.
- Assist the faculty director in auditions and casting fom the talent pool of actors auditioning at the Festival.
- Rehearse the play in the assigned space and specified hours with their Faculty Director, cast and a stage manager.
- Work collaboratively with the Faculty Director to stage a concert reading while maintaining a focus on the script content and intent.
A COMPLETE APPLICATION CONSISTS OF:
- A completed entry form that includes a statement of intent and a list of your training and experience in directing. ALL INFORMATION SHOULD BE ENTERED IN SUBMISSION FORM.
- Statement of intent should explain your interest in assisting the director(s) of the concert readings for the Ten-Minute Play Festival (PROTEST PLAYS) and confirming your intent to attend the entire Region 5 Festival, including all the requisite meetings, rehearsals and workshops throughout the week.
- A faculty member (mentor) in the student's home theatre department must verify the student status of the student director. A request for this information will be sent upon receipt of student's entry submission. It is the director's responsibility to ensure the appropriate faculty has completed the online form verifying the status of all students involved in the scene.
