NOMINATE REGION 5 FACULTY

Each year Region 5 honors outstanding faculty for their contributions to the teaching of theatre and their dedication to KCACTF. Please consider nominating faculty for one of the awards listed below.

Kennedy Center Gold Medallion

Each year, the eight KCACTF regions honor individuals or organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to the teaching and producing of theatre and who have significantly dedicated their time, artistry and enthusiasm to the development of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.  Most importantly, recipients have demonstrated a strong commitment to the values and goals of KCACTF and to excellence in educational theatre. It is the most prestigious regional award given by KCACTF and is considered one of the great honors in theatre education.  If you would like to nominate someone for this prestigious award, please email Jim Wood at  [email protected] by December 11, 2019.

ATHE/KCACTF Innovative Teaching Award

ATHE (Association for Theatre in Higher Education) and KCACTF have partnered to create the ATHE/KCACTF Prize for Innovative Teaching and a prize that goes to any graduate student displaying outstanding innovative work. These prizes will be awarded by an ATHE representative at each KCACTF region festival. Nominees can come from any source, self-nominees included. Teaching nominees submit a CV, teaching philosophy, letter of recommendation, and one-page statement that describes how the nominee is innovative in regard to student success in the area of theatre arts. Graduate student nominees submit a CV, letter of recommendation and a one page statement that describes how the nominee is innovative in regard to their studies and/or research. Winners receive a handsome plaque, ATHE membership waiver for one year, and conference fee waiver for one year.  Please submit your application materials to [email protected] by December 6, 2019.

The prizes can be awarded to any teacher and graduate student in the region, and it is desirable that her or his affiliated institution be a KCACTF participating school.

Region 5 Road Warrior Award

The KCACTF Region 5 Road Warrior Award  is intended   to provide special recognition for people who often function as unsung heroes   of the festival: the Regional Production Respondents. As is often said, the on-site response is the heart and soul of the KCACTF mission of learning about the theatre, and every weekend many of our colleagues donate their time and talents toward that mission.

If you feel you have encountered a potential   nominee, please consider the following items. Did the person exhibit truly exceptional commitment to KCACTF through their oral response, their professionalism, their collegiality, their flexibility, their efficient travel and punctuality,   their willingness to go above and beyond the normal expectations of serving as a respondent? If so, please outline in a short paragraph of less than 150 words why this person would be a deserving recipient.
The Region 5 Executive Committee will review all nominations and will present the  Road Warrior Award at the regional festival in January.

Please submit your nomination by December 11, 2019

Thank you for taking the time to recognize a colleague!

Regional Executive Committee members and last year's recipients  are not eligible for this year's award
