Directing

Welcome to the KCACTF Directing Initiatives. Below, please find links to the individual directing events.

One of the many aims of KCACTF is to nurture the next generation of stage directors.  To attain that goal, there are several opportunities for young directors at the Region 5 Festival to foster their growth as a director no matter their experience level.  Below is a description of all directing opportunities and a recommendation based on experience level.

Directing Intensive

This event is intended for students with any level of directing experience. In order to participate in this 2-day workshop, you will not be able to direct for the SDC Event or the Ten-Minute Play Festival. Students in this two-day workshop will participate in a series of exercises which will explore different aspects of directing.

SDC Directing Scene

This event is intended for those intermediate or advanced directing students. Preference will be given to those who have demonstrated success in directing a one act or full-length play.

Ten-Minute Play Directing

Students will work collaboratively with a student playwright on the development of a concert reading of a new ten-minute play and will receive assistance from a faculty mentor. This event is intended for those students interested in learning how to direct a concert reading of a new play.
