KCACTF Region V - National Stage Management Fellowship

Festival 42. Overland Park, KS

Any stage manager from a participating or associate production is eligible for the National Stage Management Fellowship (regardless of whether they have been nominated by a respondent or not). The student must have stage managed said production during the “Festival 42” year. (January 2009-December 2009)

Region V will nominate one student stage manager, who will be invited to the national festival, held at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, in Washington DC this April.

One or more respondents from outside Region V will review materials, provide an oral response session and make Region V’s nomination.

Students who wish to participate but do not wish to be considered for the National Fellowship Nomination are welcome. These students should, nonetheless, complete the process outlined below.

REGION V STAGE MANAGEMENT FELLOWSHIP GUIDELINES FOLLOW THE NATIONAL STAGE MANAGEMENT FELLOWSHIP GUIDELINES EXACTLY.

You should bring the prompt script with you to festival. It will be included in the Regional Design Expo area for display. Please do NOT ‘fix up’ or ‘pretty-up’ your script and/or paperwork. You should bring the script(s) you actually used for the production. You may include production photos, which may be mounted to a display board. If you choose to display photos and/or other materials, it does NOT need to be elaborate, simply representational of the show. Do not mail/send your prompt script! Bring it with you to the festival. Don't mail it to the Festival Coordinator.

You can submit (email or PDF format only) your director's letter and your own letter of intent, before December 31 to:

Region V Stage Management Coordinator

At the regional festival, the student has the opportunity to demonstrate their stage management skills by managing a festival event. This option is NOT available when the student is stage managing an Invited Festival Production. Students will be notified of project assignments and responsibilities via email. Stage managing a festival event is not a requirement for participation although participation is a terrific opportunity to stage manage a little out of your comfort zone.

At the regional festival, the student must participate in a workshop and interview session with the stage management respondent(s.) There will be an orientation meeting for National Stage Management Fellowship nominees following the general orientation meeting Sunday night.

The Festival 42 (2010) deadline for registering online has past.
