Open Positions for 2008-09

To apply for one or more of these positions, please send an email to Tom Woldt, Region V Chair, which includes a statement of interest and a brief statement of qualifications.  Please feel free to apply for more than one of these positions!  While you are welcome to nominate someone else, please make sure the other person has agreed to be nominated.

APPLICATION/NOMINATION DEADLINE:  SEPTEMBER 5, 2008

 

Alternative Forms Writing Initiative Coordinator  Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the “Alternative Forms” Initiative, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; accepts and organizes application materials; reviews materials as needed for choosing student participants for the event; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, National Playwriting Programs Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event; carefully organizes the workshop-oriented sessions to fit within the time allotted in the festival schedule; provides assistance to one or more Festival Special Guest/Respondent(s) assigned to the area; organizes and oversees the ‘final audition’ in which participants will present sketches, monologues, poetry, rants, or just about any type of theatrical writing other than the “traditional” play for consideration for the final showcase.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Brochure Coordinator:  Organizes and oversees the laying out of the Festival Brochure, including collection of information from various festival areas, reminding contributors about deadlines, proofreading; works closely with Workshop Coordinator and Festival Scheduler in collection of information; communicates with Regional Chair and Executive Committee members about editorial and style issues; provides drafts for review by the Regional Executive Committee in a timely fashion; helps facilitate the printing and delivery of the finished document in collaboration with Regional Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator and printing company; provides suitable drafts of pertinent information to Webmaster for website publication at the direction of the Regional Chair or Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler; provides a written report following the festival.

 

College Fair Coordinator:   Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the College Fair for the festival, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; actively recruits regional faculty to participate; communicates with interested parties in a timely fashion with regard to space, time and procedures for the event; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Costume Parade Manager:  An experienced costume artist/technician who manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the nomination of, selection of and communication with productions nominated (or self-nominated) for presentation at the Festival Costume  Parade; collaborates with Regional Design and Technologies Chair and Regional Chair on the appointment of out-of-region Costume Parade Selection Team; receives and manages photographs being considered by the Selection Team; communicates clearly with Regional Chair about final recommendations for presentation at the festival, and with Regional Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler/Showcase Producer, Irene Ryan Coordinator and Assistants, and Host Festival Coordinator, Costume Parade Staging Director about the needs and limitations of the event regarding load-in, storage and preparation.  Provides a written report following the festival.  (The Regional Vice-Chair will serve as the overall Producer of the Showcase Evening that includes the Irene Ryan Finals and the Costume Parade.  The Producer and the Irene Ryan Coordinator will select the student-parade-hosts from the Irene Ryan Semi-Finalists.)

 

David L. Thayer Lighting Event Coordinator:  Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Thayer Lighting competition and workshop, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; accepts and organizes application materials; reviews materials as needed for choosing student participants for the event; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Design and Technologies Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event and about the assembling of a team of judge/respondents; organizes the sessions to fit within the time allotted in the festival schedule; provides assistance to one or more Festival Special Guest/Respondent(s) assigned to the area of Lighting.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

David L. Thayer Lighting Associate Coordinator  Assists the event coordinator with pre-festival planning, screening and receiving of applications and projects, event set-up and logistics, communications, management of the event itself, assisting student participants, respondent/judges and audience, and other tasks as needed. 

 

Directing Initiative Associate Coordinator  Assists the event coordinator with pre-festival planning, screening and receiving of applications and information, event set-up and logistics, communications, management of the event itself, assisting student participants and Festival Special Guests assigned to respond/judge the events, timely beginning and ending of events, and other tasks as needed.

 

Faculty Acting “Splash” Showcase Coordinator:  Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Faculty Acting “Splash” Showcase for the festival, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; actively recruits regional faculty to participate; communicates with interested parties in a timely fashion with regard to scene/text options/assignments and procedures for the event; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Irene Ryan Assistant (Nominees/Logistics):  Works closely with the Irene Ryan Coordinator in managing the Scholarship Auditions before and during the festival.  Will primarily focus on database management with respect to on-line pre-registration and nomination, scheduling of nominees and judges into rooms/groups, communication with registrants and/or coaches about equipment and personnel needs.

 

Irene Ryan Assistant (Rights and Royalties):   Works closely with the Irene Ryan Coordinator in managing the Scholarship Auditions before and during the festival.  Will primarily focus on verification of rights/royalties/permissions with respect to material being used by nominees and the subsequent communication with registrants and/or coaches about restrictions, clarifications and supplemental information.

 

Load-in/Load Out Response Coordinator:  Manages all of the activities pertaining to the Load-in Response, Load-out Response and “Golden Hand Truck” Award processes; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Design and Technologies Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event and about the assembling of a team of judge/respondents; organizes the judge/respondents as to their assignments to observe and provide feedback for the festival production load-ins AND load-outs; communicates with judge/respondent team, Regional Chair and Design and Technologies Chair about the criteria and voting system used to select the Golden Hand Truck Award winner.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Portfolio Review Coordinator.   Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Portfolio Review session and workshop, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; accepts and organizes application materials; reviews materials as needed for choosing student participants for the event; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Design and Technologies Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event and about the assembling of a team of judge/respondents; carefully organizes the sessions to fit within the time allotted in the festival schedule; provides assistance to one or more Festival Special Guest/Respondent(s) assigned to the area.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Registration Assistant.  Assists the Festival Registrar with pre-festival planning, handling of applications and information, set-up and logistics, communications with other areas of the festival, management of the registration activities during the festival, assisting festival attendees/registrants with information and materials, working with host-school volunteers on the operation of the Registration Desk, timely opening and closing, and other tasks as needed.

 

Showcase of Invited Scenes Coordinator:  Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Scene Showcase for the festival; communicates with nominated parties in a timely fashion once the showcase slate has been established about logistics, load-in and timeframe; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, Venue Technical Staff about the needs and limitations of the event.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Stage Crew Showdown Coordinator:  Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Stage Crew Showdown competition and workshop, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; accepts and organizes application materials; reviews materials as needed for choosing student participants for the event; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Design and Technologies Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event and about the assembling of a team of judge/respondents; carefully organizes the sessions to fit within the time allotted in the festival schedule; provides assistance to one or more Festival Special Guest/Respondent(s) assigned to the area.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Stage Crew Showdown Associate Coordinator Assists the event coordinator with pre-festival planning, screening and receiving of applications and information, event set-up and logistics, communications, management of the event itself, assisting student participants, respondent/judges and audience, timely beginning and ending of events, and other tasks as needed. 

 

Summer Stock/Internship/Classical Festival Auditions and Interviews Coordinator:   Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Audition and Interview process for the festival, including the publicizing of the opportunities prior to the festival; accepts and organizes application materials; reviews materials as needed for choosing student participants for the event; actively recruits company representatives to audition/interview students; communicates clearly with Regional Chair, Vice-Chair/Festival Scheduler, Host Festival Coordinator, Workshop Coordinator, about the needs and limitations of the event, provides assistance to one or more Festival Special Guest/Respondent(s) who may participate in the series of events.  Provides a written report following the festival.

 

Summer Stock/Internship/Classical Auditions and Interviews Associate Coordinator Assists the event coordinator with pre-festival planning, screening and receiving of applications and information, event set-up and logistics, recruitment of company representatives, communications, management of the event itself, assisting student participants, respondent/judges/company-representatives, timely beginning and ending of events, and other tasks as needed.

 

Theatre Management Initiative Coordinator.  Manages all of the activities and materials pertaining to the Theatre Management Initiative.  Work closely and communicate with Regional Chair to develop portfolio criteria and submission guidelines.  Work closely with Festival Scheduler, Workshop Coordinator, Host Festival Coordinator to develop an “Honors House Management” team, including assignment of duties and screening of candidates.  Work with Workshop Coordinator to develop, recruit and organize workshop offerings in the Theatre Management areas.  Communicate with Regional Chair and Festival Scheduler on scheduling of events, as well as on collaboration with one or more Festival Special Guests assigned to the area as Respondents/Judges.

 

Workshop Associate Coordinator  Assists the event coordinator with pre-festival planning, screening and receiving of applications and information, event set-up and logistics, recruitment of potential workshop leaders, communications, management of the event itself throughout the festival week, assisting student volunteers/monitors, assisting Festival Special Guests, troubleshooting equipment or other issues, monitoring timely beginning and ending of events, and other tasks as needed.
