FESTIVAL 40 COSTUME PARADE
You know it, you love it and you just can't live without it! The annual KCACTF Costume Parade will live again at Festival 40 in Omaha/Council Bluffs! As in years past, this year's event will be held on the evening of the Irene Ryan Acting Audition Finals—but please note that this year the Ryan Finals and the Costume Parade will be held on FRIDAY of the festival (January 25.) The parade will take place at the conclusion of the Acting Showcase Final Round and before the winners are announced.
ENTRY INFORMATION
There are two ways in which you may be invited to bring costumes from a production:
1. Respondents may nominate the costumes from a particular show. The school, however, will select the costumes, with a maximum of five costumes. If your production was nominated, you will receive an e-mail message from the regional chair. This message will explain that to enter, you must do two things: First, you must officially enter your production at the “Costume Parade” entry form on the Region V website (www.kcactf5.org), AND e-mail up to a maximum of five (5) digital photographs as attachments in “.jpg” format, to Sheila Tabaka, Costume Parade Coordinator at stabaka@southwestmsu.edu. We ask that you only submit clear, color production photographs-no renderings, please. NOTE—a nomination by a respondent does not indicate an official entry of the production—you are responsible for making your official entry.
2. Your department may also self-nominate up to five costumes for each of two additional productions, as long as those productions were KCACTF associate or participating entries. Again, officially enter your production at the “Costume Parade” entry form on the Region V website (www.kcactf5.org), AND e-mail up to a maximum of five (5) digital photographs as attachments in “jpg.” format to Sheila Tabaka, Costume Parade Coordinator at stabaka@southwestmsu.edu. We ask that you only submit clear, color production photographs-no renderings, please.
Deadline: Regardless of how your show is nominated, the deadline by which all on-line entries must be made AND by which digital photographs must be received by Sheila Tabaka is December 3, 2007. (If your production opens after this date, and this would prevent you from meeting this deadline, please contact Sheila Tabaka directly as soon as possible.)
Other Guidelines
-All productions must have been produced from January-December, 2007, and have been entered as Associate or Participating entries in KCACTF.
-We encourage and expect makeup and hairstyles/wigs and accessories will be included for the Parade.
Judging and Selection Process
Once all productions have been entered and photographs received, the productions will be “blinded”—all reference to school and designer will be removed. For this reason, please do not include school name or designer name in the file-names of your photographs. These materials will then be forwarded to one or more costume designers from outside Region V, who will review them and rank them from top to bottom. These rankings will be presented to the Region V Executive Committee at the time of the Regional Selection Meeting on December 8 and 9. The Executive Committee will make the final determination of productions, based on such factors as number of spots in the parade, whether a production is already being invited as a festival production or other pertinent issues.
On or about December 10, schools will be notified as to whether or not they are being invited to the parade. Those invited will be required to RSVP about their intentions no later than December 18.
