contact/reply to Respondent/Selector in a timely fashion
about their needs and visit.

provide (including pay for) over-night accommodation if Respondent's/Selector's
trip is longer than 1 to 1.5 hours.

provide/host (including pay for) one meal with the Respondent/Selector—usually
dinner—that allows for some discussion and social interaction between
respondent and staff.

provide clear directions to hotel, theatre, restaurant or
other locations in a timely fashion.

advise Respondent/Selector well in advance of a participating
production whether a single response, two responses or a “duet” response
is desired.

arrange ticket for Respondent/Selector and have it waiting
at the theatre.

if a pre-show get-together is not possible, arrange for someone
to meet Respondent/Selector prior to the show in the box office area and
to provide instructions about where and how the post-production response
session will take place.

provide day-of-show emergency contact information if it is
different than what Respondent/Selector has already received (mobile phone
numbers, etc.)

provide a place, if requested, for the Respondent/Selector
to be alone for a few minutes after the performance and before the response
in order to collect their thoughts.

make a (reasonably) formal introduction of Respondent/Selector
to the student/production company.

have some discussion with Respondent/Selector about potential
Irene Ryan nominees. When possible, please indicate which students, if any,
are NOT eligible PRIOR TO the performance.

timely and clear communication about visit and in reply to
host's questions.

presume that hotel and food accommodations are the best available
under the circumstances. Make no extra demands, other than specific special
needs as noted below.

make host aware of any special needs you have in terms of
parking, accommodation, food, smoking, etc., in advance of visit.

leave early enough as to arrive early for appointed meal
or performance times.

be prepared to pay for additional costs that may be incurred
if they bring a guest (hotel, food, performance ticket.) The host is only
responsible, in the end , for respondent/selector personally.

behave in ways that they like responders to behave when
attending their productions (and find them harried, nervous, tired, distracted…).
The overall objective of the response process is to build collegiality
among our peers, and give us a chance to interact in supportive
ways outside of our own dark rooms.

that is complete, thoughtful, salted with a little appropriate humor (self-deprecating
is always a good place to start) and that gives the company some feedback
about their EFFORTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS as well as some
